The Wabash Valley Chapter of Altrusa International will host the 30th annual Altrusa Chili Cook-off, Saturday, September 8, 2012. Altrusa is calling all cooks to gather up their friends and co-workers put together a team for bragging rights and some fun-filled competition.
Each cook-off team is judged by a panel of culinary experts made up of local restaurant owners and chefs, with awards given for the Hottest Chili, Best Chili, Best Showmanship, and Peoples Choice categories. The People’s Choice Award will be voted on by the festival goers. The festivities will include a Live Auction, Book Sale, Beer Garden, live Band and of course, most importantly, Chili Tasting. Entry fee for the event is $50 and includes a 10x10 tent, 8’ table, and electric hook-up. The event will take place September 10th in the Clabber Girl Festival Marketplace located on the corner of 9th and Cherry Streets in Downtown Terre Haute. The funds raised will go directly to support literacy programs throughout the Wabash Valley.
Mark your calendars for all the fun at this year’s Altrusa Chili Cook-off. Get your friends and co-workers together to form a chili cook-off team, bring the family for a day of family fun, or just come out to taste the best variety of chili in town. The public is encouraged to stop by the Clabber Girl Festival Marketplace, Saturday September 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and enjoy an afternoon filled with chili tasting, entertainment, and plenty of activities for the whole family!
