Content and Scope of the Collection
This collection contains one commemorative bottle (no. 32) of Champagne Velvet manufactured by the Terre Haute Brewing Company and donated to the Vigo County Public Library on November 17, 2000; included is the original gift box and the certificate of authenticity which states:
"This certificate is presented to Vigo County Public Library who received the 32nd bottle of Champagne Velvet produced by the Terre Haute Brewing Company on November 17, 2000. The historic Terre Haute Brewing Company, famous for it's Champagne Velvet beer, was the 7th largest brewer in the United States in the 1890's, employing over 900 people at their peak (closing in 1958). We located the original 1901 recipe, purchased the trademarks for CV from Pabst Brewing Co. and returned this historic beer to it's modest beginnings. This brewery was reopened officially on November 17, 2000. Supporters that shared in this moment by purchasing one of the first bottles will be recognized, not only with this certificate but by having their names displayed on our Champagne Velvet plaque, located in the Terre Haute Brewing Company Tap Room and Museum."
This collection also includes an invitation to a private tour of the Brewery and Tap Room on November 15, 2000, a plastic beer pitcher, and a Bleemel Days button dated September 22-23, 2000.
