Dates: 1989-1998
Accession Number: VCPL 11A
Description: One document case

Content and Scope of the Collection

This collection contains publicity flyers promoting the library's Notes at Noon series of programs. The Notes at Noon programs have been primarily coordinated through the Community Services Department and began as a joint venture co-sponsored by VCPL and Arts Illiana, with the support of the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. (The Notes at Noon programs under this co-sponsorship include the following dates: September 1989-1992; April-June 1996; February and April 1997).

Notes at Noon features a wide-range of music, dance, and theater performances mostly utilizing local talent, such as Louie Popejoy, Community Theatre, musical individuals or groups from community organizations, the local schools and I.S.U. Occasionally, a nationally-renowned performer will appear as a special event (Hugh Blumenfeld; Carrie Newcomer, see VCPL collection: Writers Live at the Library).

The publicity flyers in this collection were produced in-house through the Publications Department and two copies are immediately transferred to Archives to document the various programs and activities sponsored by the Vigo County Public Library.
