Content and Scope of Collection

This collection contains one book of 58 original pencil drawings by students in the Saturday Drawing Class. This class was sponsored by the public schools and designed for advanced students as a supplement to their regular drawing courses. The spine of the book is embossed with gold lettering: "Centennial 1876."

Of special note: This book contains two original drawings by artist Amalia Kssner. Kssner, who spent her formative years in Terre Haute, was considered one of the most skillful and prominent miniature portrait painters of the late 19th and early-20th centuries.
