Community Coordinated Child Care (also known as 4-C) is a non-profit agency that "promotes quality child care services and programs for preschool children and their families in the Wabash Valley." 4-C is comprised of teachers, parents, students, health agencies, and social service organizations "committed to helping meet the educational, emotional, and social needs of young children." (See Folder 1 for a list of services.)

4-C for the Wabash Valley was incorporated in 1971. In 1978 the office at 619 Washington Avenue was established and the first Executive Director position was created in July 1979. Over the years, 4-C has been funded by a variety of sources such as, the Child Care Food Program, donations, dues, Title XX, the United Way, and special grants. Today (in 1999), it continues to be a vital agency in the community and its office is now located at 1801 N. 6th Street (Suite 600).

This collection was generated from newsletters filed in Special Collections and from files donated by VCPL staff members involved in 4-C. (Carol Sutherland was a former 4-C Board member; Kathy Hackleman was the first Executive Director of 4-C).

The collection primarily contains 4-C newsletters from 1979 to 1994. Also included are materials from Carol Sutherland's files: minutes, programs, activities, and newspaper clippings. These do not represent a comprehensive record of the agency.
