In 1976, the Farrington's Grove Historical District, Inc. was established as a non-profit organization by residents to promote preservation of their neighborhood through education. The Grove is bordered by Swan and Hulman streets and Fourth and Seventh streets, is a mile long and nearly a half-mile wide and includes more than 800 homes.

This collection contains minutes, correspondence, and publicity items which chronicle the activities of the organization (e.g., historic home tours, Clean-Up Day, renovation of derelict properties, zoning ordinance concerns). The district was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 and much of the collection represents the organization's efforts in achieving this goal. Notes from the initial planning committee, historic survey plans, and nomination material represent the process the Farrington's Grove Historical District underwent to have their district placed on the National Register.
