Content and Scope of Collection
In 1889 William R. McKeen gave property at 1016 N. 6th Street to the Rose Ladies Aid Society, a charitable Society that sought "to help worthy poor people in Terre Haute." The former home of Sarah Dowling McKeen, the property became the Home for Aged Women.
The papers in this collection are letters of inquiry and recommendations, reports of board members, and most importantly, detailed reports to board members by Matron Katherine R. Leake. Leake's reports contain informative and interesting descriptions of some of the ladies who came to live in the Home.
