Content and Scope of Collection

This collection consists of an account book and other financial documents belonging to Henry Rhyan, a native of Virginia.  After settling in Fayette township he practiced the cooper's trade until his death on March 24, l888 at age 83.  Also included are deeds transferring property and letters (mostly from Nicholas Rhyan) during the 1870s. 

Identical names can be found in the William A. Grigsby Account Books of Putnamville, IN, which is also contained in this document case.

Items in Folder 2a and Map Case #3 were transferred from the Rhyan Family File in Special Collections in May 2005.
