Content and Scope of Collection
A. Decker F. Pound was born near Malott, Kentucky, on December 19, 1851. He graduated from the Louisville Medical College and practiced medicine in Middleton, Indiana for nearly three years prior to his suicide on August 15, 1879. He was married to Sarah Emily Weir of Vigo County.
The first diary (Envelope 1) contains daily entries from January 1 through October 11, 1874. It appears that Pound was living in Fairmount, Kentucky at this time and helping with his father's farm. The second diary (Envelope 2) reflects the period January 1 - December 31, 1878 while Pound was practicing medicine in Prairie Creek Township, Vigo County, Indiana. Daily entries include a record of Dr. Pound's medical visits as well as some personal accounts.
