Content and Scope of Collection 

This collection contains cassette tape recordings of various WAAC radio programs aired from 1971 to 1981.  The programs generally featured local personalities and topics of local interest.  The tapes were made by the Vigo County Public Library and are arranged roughly in chronological order by program title.  An index of program contents for each tape is available.   

Below are descriptions of the programs represented in the collection followed by a list of cassettes in chronological order.

1) “Dial for Infor-
          mation" 

This weekly, 30-minute series dealt with civic affairs in Terre Haute and featured community leaders. 2 tapes.

2)  "Headliner"             

This ten-minute program aired Monday through Friday and featured local, state,
and national affairs.   1 tape.

3)  "Year in Review" 

Review of the year's events as broadcast on WAAC, reported by Don Sherwood and the WAAC staff.  2 tapes.

4)  "Newsmaker"

This daily, 20-minute series dealt with civic affairs in Terre Haute and featured community leaders and people in the news.  112 tapes.

5)  "Lyle at Large" 

This daily, 20-minute series dealt with civic affairs in Terre Haute and featured community leaders.

This 25-minute interview program with Laura Clavio and Vince Lyle aired Monday through Friday and dealt with timely matters of interest.

This every Friday feature of WAAC news explored different topics of public interest.
