Content and Scope of Collection

This collection contains one letter written by Jennie McFarland to her cousin who was apparently in the military service during the Civil War. The letter includes personal anecdotes as well as references to the war and the assassination of Lincoln.

Although there was no additional material with the letter to identify its author, there is a Jennie McFarland listed on the 1860 census in Carroll County, Indiana (p. 325).
