Ages 12-19: Join us for our first discussion of The Lovely War by Julie Berry. Tell us what you think of the book so far. Simply register through VCPL's website with a valid email address. We will send you the link, and the link for our meeting later this month, so you can join the conversation! We'll talk about our final thoughts on the book at a Zoom meeting on June 30th. 


The book is available on Libby and a few copies are available for pickup at the library. You must be registered to pickup a physical book.

Ages 5 - 11: Get ready to soar! Using cardboard, special tools and other recycled materials construct a spaceship that can fly through outer space. Add special gadgets and tools to your ship for an intergalactic voyage. This program is presented by the Terre Haute Children's Museum.

Ages 5 - 11: Design and create your own lunar explorer to send to the moon. Using an engineering design process and test the design to see if it can make a safe landing. Pair this with the rocket you'll create in next week's Soaring through Space for an additional engineering challenge.  This program is presented by the Terre Haute Children's Museum.

This is not your average read aloud. This is an interactive, fast-paced experience where four different storytellers will harness the power of oral storytelling. Celestine Bloomfield, David Matlack, Stephanie Holman and Kim McMurray will showcase the diversity of this art form with cut and tell stories, folktales, African tales and more. Each storyteller will take the stage for 30 minutes. Stay for just one story or the whole event. Kids can enjoy hands-on storytelling throughout the event. Refreshments will be served.
