Celebrate the Dog (and Cat) Days of Summer with the Vigo County Public Library and Barnes and Noble on the lawn at the Library. The First Friday event will be held on August 1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the Walnut Street side at the Vigo County Public Library. Bring your artistic talent and make pet toys and decorate pet dishes for the local Humane Society. Enjoy music, face paintings, and refreshments.

Local author Sherri Andrews will be in the lobby with her true story 'The Book of James'; a deeply personal account of her son's struggle with addition. Sherri shares the pain and the hope even when young James lost his battle and passed away. Part poetry, part prose Sherri's insights would be a lifeline for anyone going through a similar situation. Offered at a special price of $12.50 for this one day event. Sherri will also personalize the book upon request.
