Did you know that American slaves used quilts to convey secret messages? Have you heard about the 14-foot peacock that graced the Indiana Theater? Ever think of Indiana as “The Wild West”? The answer to all of these questions could be “yes” if you schedule a visit from Jeanette Bouchie, Lifelong Learning Center Librarian. She will bring to your group a 30-45-minute discussion of fascinating facts and interesting anecdotes about a variety of topics. To request a visit, simply fill about the information below. Or, if you'd like to learn about the additional speakers that the library offers, contact Book-A-Librarian.
Construction Heroes: The Vigo County Public Library Youth Services Department will be closed Monday, August 3 through December. The lower level will undergo a significant renovation to allow for more Youth Services space. Materials can be requested on the VCPL website, or visit the Teen Space to request youth materials.
Visiting Speakers & Storytimes
Want a storytime visit? Our librarians can visit your daycare or preschool for a 20-minute storytime that will feature stories, songs, and other activities. Or explore the Spanish language through beautiful stories and songs by requesting Casa Latina.
If you have children in your daycare or preschool with special needs, you can request a Sensory Storytime instead. These 20-minute sessions are created for children with autism and other developmental disabilities and include activities involving all of the senses while creating a comfortable environment with visual schedules and gentle transitions.
