The Vigo County Public Library received LSTA grants in 2000 and 2001 to digitize Vigo County Marriage Records from February 1914 to February 1951. This project is supported by the Institute of Museums and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Indiana State Library. The ultimate goal of the project is to improve access to local original records that are historically significant and unique to Vigo County by making these records available on the Vigo County Public Library's website.
The digitization of the 1904-1914 marriages was made possible by a bequest from Jacqueline (Havill) Phillips.
The Vigo County Public Library would like to acknowledge the support of the Clerk of the Circuit Court in Vigo County for granting permission to convert these records to digital images. Northern Micrographics in La Crosse, Wisconsin, handled the digital conversion of the marriage records from silver negative microfilm. The images were initially scanned in TIF file format (600 dpi) and converted to PDF file format (100 dpi) to be viewed with Adobe Acrobat.
