I enjoy reading Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that type with my six year old son. We both get to laugh and talk about how the animals bargain back and forth with the farmer.

I read this book with my kids and they really enjoyed the performance put on by the author's characters. The main character, Hilda Mae, is lonely and her friends try to make life sound a little sweeter by forming a small chorus for her to sing along with.

The animals want to help their friend, but they must make the cut. In an American Idol type audition, the animals get to show the judges what they’ve got and my kids were laughing out loud as the try-outs took place. The judges respond in a comic book style spread that caught my 5-year old's eye with a HUGE puffy sheep and a little mouse squeak!

Each animal has its own unique contribution to make this an utterly fantastic sing-a-long!

This book includes music terminology (solo, duet, trio, quartet) and could be used as part of a music and movement lesson at school or at home. So break out the instruments or pots and pans and get your kids BOO-HOO MOOing!

We love Margi Palatini (She’s a Jersey Girl) and we also recommend her book:
