Hazel Grace Lancaster is your normal 16 year old teenager. The only thing different about Hazel is that she has cancer which she has had for three years now. It is necessary for her to take special medication and carry around an oxygen tank simply because her lungs sucked at being lungs. Her mom makes her attend a cancer support group where kids with all forms of cancer get together and discuss what it’s like to have cancer. Hazel hates going to these meetings. She hates listening to other kid’s stories about their battles. Hazel would rather be home watching marathons of Americas Next Top Model. One Wednesday, Hazel met Augustus Waters. She had been getting a cookie and some lemonade when she turned around and saw a boy staring at her. The hour continues with stories of battles lost and won, tears shed and comfort offered. After support group, Augustus persuades Hazel to come to his house to watch a movie. Hazel and Augustus instantly become friends. They start spending every moment they can with each other watching movies, playing video games, and hanging out just in general. Somewhere along the way, this friendship becomes something more and things start changing. This book is all about making friends, finding love, and dealing with hurt and death. It is a beautifully written book that will make you laugh and cry. Its characters are seemingly real; acting like you would expect any teenager to. This is Johns fifth and newest book, and in my opinion, his best.
Colin Singleton is a child prodigy. He started reading when he was three and could anagram almost any word. Colin even knew several different languages. When Colin was in the third grade, he met his first girlfriend, Katherine number one, who broke up with him after five minutes of dating.
Recently dumped by Katherine number nineteen, Colin’s eccentric but lazy friend, Hassan, decides that they need to on a road trip to take Colin’s mind off of things. Everywhere he goes though Colin is reminded of Katherine and the times they spent together. As we go through the book, we find out about the other Katherine’s that Colin has dated, and just how much he misses them when they break up with him. Yes, they always dump him. Ever since the first Katherine, he has always been the “dumpee”.
While on this road trip, Colin tries to think up a mathematical way to explain who will be the dumper, and who will be the dumpee. Colin and Hassan also find themselves a job. But more importantly, Colin finds love.
John Green is an amazing author who knows how to make you laugh. His books are always so relatable. An Abundance of Katherine’s was the first John Green book I read, why not make it your first too?
The Angel Experiment is the first book in a James Patterson series, Maximum Ride. It follows Max, a young girl, 14 years of age, who is in charge of what she calls “The Flock”. The Flock is her family. It consists of Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman, and Angel.
The Flock isn’t really Max’s family. You see, Max and the others were all raised in a lab called The School. They were brought up by scientists in white coats who performed horrible tests on them. They kept them all in cages that were really meant to hold dogs. The white coats implanted wings into them, making them mutants. There was a nice white coat though, who saved Max and her flock. He brought them to a safe place where the scientists could no longer harm them.
That nice white coat is gone now, and they are all left on their own. They have to fend for themselves. Max, being the oldest, acts as a parent to them. She cares for them and plays with them.
One day though, Angel, the youngest, gets taken away by a breed of mutants the scientists made. Max couldn’t stop them, and they had to all leave their safe home to return to The School to save Angel.
The Flock faces many challenging tasks on their way to The School. Some of which bring them together, while others draw them more apart.
Will they come together as a family though to save Angel? Read Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment to find out.
The Lightning Thief is the first book in the Percy Jackson series. The book combines real life and Greek mythology; the 12 olympian gods, Medusa, the underworld etc. This book is a great book if you love suspense and getting surprised as well as mythology. The book didn't do at all what thought it would do. The author gets you to believe something will happen but something different happens. I give this book a 4.5 out of 5.
The son of Neptune is the second book in the Heroes of Olympus series, which is a sequel to the Percy Jackson series. This book doesn't only include Greek mythology but it also incorporates Roman mythology. The book is mainly about Percy getting his memory back. It is also about Percy, Frank and Hazel trying to stop the children of Gaea (roman god of the earth) from destroying half-blood camps, the gods and eventually the whole world!

The date for Bella's transformation into a vampire has been set. But unforeseen developments occur for her and her love, Edward Cullen. A marriage, honeymoon, and birth give them difficulties.
