Is there a limit on the number of items I can checkout?

Yes. There is a monthly limit of ten checkouts.

How long can I borrow an item for?

When you click on an item, it will tell you how long you can borrow it:

  • Movies and TV Series check out for 2-3 days.
  • Music albums check out for 7 days.
  • Audiobooks, eBooks and comics check out for 21 days.

Accessing hoopla materials on a mobile device:

  • Download the app to your device.
  • Sign up with your VCPL library card and PIN.
  • Create a log in using an email address and password.
  • Browse or search to find items that interest you.
  • Click borrow on the item you want to borrow.
  • If you want to watch or listen to the item without a wifi connection, click the download button. This will download the item into the app. You will need to turn off your data or wifi connection while viewing or listening to materials that you have downloaded. The app defaults to data or wifi usage if available.

Accessing hoopla materials on a desktop or laptop:

  • Go to hoopla’s website.
  • Sign up using your VCPL library card and PIN.
  • Create a log in using an email address and password.
  • Browse or search to find items that interest you.
  • Click borrow on the item you want to borrow.
  • To view a video, there will be a one-time installation of a plugin called Widevine. After installation, make sure you restart your browser.
